The Norwegian election 9th of September resulted in a new political majority.
This new political majority has earlier voted against the law amendments, which
blocked other companies than the Norwegian TSO, Statnett from obtaining licence
for an international interconnector. The incoming coalition partners in Norway
have recently made strong commitment to the NorthConnect project such as:
“All four opposition parties are now ready to reverse the law regarding the NorthConnect
power link if they win the majority” said Siri Meling, energy spokesperson for the Conservatives.
"Since all opposition parties opposed the law, I believe it will be totally uncontroversial for us
to revers it" she told Montel in an interview published on 9th of September 2013.
